Assistant Professor of Digital Animation

School of Art and Design

 

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track faculty position in the School of Art and Design, which begins August 2019.

 

This tenure-track position will teach in the Digital Animation BFA program. The Digital Animation Bachelor of Fine Arts at Kennesaw State University is a rapidly growing major, currently enrolling 200 students. The successful candidate will join a dynamic art school where traditional and emerging modalities in the creative process are utilized across disciplines in our state of the art studios, complete with the latest model Cintiq platforms. Responsibilities include but are not limited to pedagogy, service, creative expression and professional growth.

 

The position requires a strong knowledge and proficiency in 2D animation production, interactivity, design and technology. Experience in Autodesk Maya, with skills in 3D modeling, technical direction, effects animation, lighting and rendering, including Harmony Pro, Storyboard Pro and Maya compatible software, compositing, and interactive design are required. Ability to teach classes in Illustration and Sequential Art is desirable. Additional skills in Autodesk Mudbox, Z-Brush, experience with virtual and/or augmented reality and 2D traditional animation considered a plus. Additionally, the successful candidate will help provide supervision of the School of Art and Design Computer Studios. Employee will participate in the development of student portfolio review processes.

 

Qualified candidate will possess an MFA degree with industry experience and an established record of professional achievement. Two (2) years teaching experience at the university level is preferred. We encourage practice across all media and technology using a variety of materials in the visual arts, integrating new and emerging areas of art making, which supports our progressive curriculum.

 

Master of Fine Arts in Animation or Illustration, or its foreign equivalent, and related work experience. Thorough knowledge Adobe Creative Suites, Final Cut Pro, Harmony software including Toon-Boom and Storyboard Pro. Secondary skillsets in Sequential Art or Illustration desirable.
