The Curriculum & Instruction Department at Texas A&M University - Central Texas is seeking applicants for adjunct reading instructors. The successful candidate(s) will be expected to teach upper level courses in one or more of the following areas: Reading, Fundamentals of Teaching Reading, Reading Instruction, Reading Resources, and/or Reading Assessment. Experience and enthusiasm for teaching and working with undergraduate and graduate students is essential. A Master's degree in education or related field, with 18 graduate hours in Reading is required for undergraduate. A terminal degree is required for graduate level Reading courses. Minimum qualification 1: Master's degree in education or related field, with 18 graduate hours in Reading is required and undergraduate teaching experience

Minimum qualification 2: Terminal degree in education or related field

Job summary/Basic Function: Primarily responsible for the teaching/learning process. Adjunct instructors are hired to teach on a temporary and part-time basis. Adjunct instructors teaching courses for credit must meet the same requirements for professional and scholarly preparation as their full-time counterparts teaching in the same discipline.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience in teaching in Reading, Fundamentals of Teaching Reading, Reading Instruction, Reading Resources, and/or Reading Assessment.

Show an expertise in and commitment to undergraduate and graduate education.

Exhibit enthusiasm for undergraduate and graduate teaching and employing innovative teaching methods.

Description of Job Responsibility/Duty:

100% - Teaches an undergraduate level class as needed. Writes syllabi for the courses to be taught using the approved format of the College of Education. Work closely with Department Chair, Certification Office, and Program Coordinator. Meets with students enrolled in their classes when students need additional assistance with class material and assignments.
