Laboratory Technician Senior

Job description

This position requires a person with knowledge of and experiment with smokeless tobacco products, plant tissue processing, preparation for extraction, analysis for harmful consituents in smokeless tobacco products and plant tissue utilizing gc/FID, lc/FLD, GC/MS and other analytical instruments. This position also requires a person capable of operating a smoking machine and physical parameter station to perform chemical analysis of smoke condensate and physical parameter of cigarette. Writing skills and experience using spreadsheets for detailed reporting and record keeping. Maintain extremely accurate records of sample through-put in the laboratory. Keep lab inventory of supplies and order as needed for smooth functioning of the lab.

Physical Requirements

Limited lifting of 50 lbs, sitting at desk to complete data analysis and reports, standing to prepare samples and operate instruments.


Monday -Friday; 8:00 am-4:30 pm (37.5hrs/week).


MS Windows, simple statistical pages, operation of chromatographic instrument, knowledge of analytical chemistry

Preferred Education/Experience

Natural product chemistry, toxin analysis, similar experience in these areas.
