Advanced Practice Provider II/UKHC

Job description

The Department of Psychiatry is seeking to fill a position for an Advanced Practice Provider who will serve as a member of the care delivery team for inpatient psychiatric care.

This individual will play a lead role in developing and implementing a comprehensive suicide screening program throughout the UK HealthCare Enterprise.

Will serve as a primary intake provider to the Behavioral Health Unit at Good Samaritan Hospital and assist in providing consult coverage for referrals to the Psychiatry Department for evaluation.

This clinician will report to the Director of the Inpatient Psychiatric Services and serve as a key clinician in assisting in managing care for patients with a suspected or diagnosed behavioral health or mental health condition.

Required License/ Registration/Certification

For Nurse Practitioner applicants, active Kentucky Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license.

For Nurse Practitioner applicants, must have the Adult Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification (PMHNP-BC).

For Physician Assistant applicants, current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification and active Kentucky Physician Assistant (PA) license.

Employment is contingent upon the University's verification of credentials as required by state law and University policies.

Physical Requirements

Standing for long periods of time; Assisting in moving patients on the unit


Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; occasional evening and weekends; Potential on-call responsibilities

Preferred Education/Experience

Preferred candidates will have related experience providing direct patient care to patients with a diagnosed opioid use disorder or another addiction diagnosis.
APRN preferred with a current license in the State of Kentucky.
DEA eligible upon hire and one or more years of experience preferred.
