Agriculture Research Specialist Sr

Job description



The Feed Mill Manager position is located at the Oran C Little Research Farm in Versailles, KY.

Important to have excellent quality feed ingredients and proper diet preparation for a quality research program. Necessary to have proper record keeping for the feed mill to assure compliance with the Food Safety and Modernization Act. Manages all aspects of the processing of all grains and the blending of feed ingredients. Delivers diets to appropriate locations. Develop/update/maintain spreadsheet-based inventory control system. Maintenance and repair of mill equipment. Hire, train and supervise student workers. Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Lifting up to 50 pounds; climbing stairs and walking on farm.



Shift

Monday-Friday; 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Will require evenings and weekends (possibly holidays) as necessary to support research project needs.



Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Knowledge of feed ingredients and ingredient usage; computer proficiency; attention to detail; planning and organizing; dependability; and knowledge of FDA regulations.

Preferred Education/Experience

MS in Animal Science with two years feed mill experience; and Driver's License are preferred.
