The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking an anatomist to fill a full-time, tenure-track faculty position teaching medical gross anatomy.  The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in Anatomy or a related field.  Experience teaching medical histology and/or medical neuroanatomy is preferred but not required.  A commitment to excellence in teaching required as this is the primary responsibility of this position.  Completion of a postdoctoral fellowship and/or three years of equivalent experience are a plus. Those with an equivalent combination of relevant and recent experience, education and or training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. 

Teaching facilities at WVSOM include a state-of-the-art anatomy teaching laboratory and cutting-edge lecture facilities, simulation center, multipurpose laboratory, and team based learning room.  Resources for gross anatomic education and research also include an active plastination facility. The medical gross anatomy content at WVSOM is team-taught and fully integrated alongside clinical and other biomedical science content..  Teaching responsibilities will include traditional lectures, flipped classroom (directed study followed by application exercises), dissection laboratory, and team based learning (TBL) sessions with all disciplines integrated into a patient presentation-based medical curriculum.  A commitment to excellence in teaching is required as the education of osteopathic medical students is the primary responsibility of this position. 

Research facilities and research start-up funds are available. The successful candidate will also be expected to conduct research or scholarly activity. Previous experience teaching anatomy to medical students using active learning strategies is a plus.    

This position will be filled at the rank of instructor, assistant, associate or professor commensurate with experience and accomplishments in both teaching and research.  Salary includes an excellent benefits package as well as moving expenses.
