The Department of Management Science and Engineering seeks a Student Services Specialist, serving in a limited FTE, to provide administrative and operational support to faculty, staff, and students in all aspects of student services, including graduate admission, course and room scheduling, and career and student-focused events. Reports to the Student Services Manager, and works with a team of student services specialists. Do you enjoy customer service, life-long learning, and a wide variety of daily responsibilities? Your responsibilities include:

  • Responding to inquiries from applicants, prospective applicants, and non-degree students via email, phone, and in-person, to explain departmental and University policies and procedures.
  • Reviewing online application materials, and updating applicant information in central system.
  • Processing requests from faculty, staff, and course assistants for yearly and quarterly course and room scheduling.
  • Assisting with maintenance of student email distribution lists, and student printing access.
  • Assisting with the administration, planning, and execution of orientation, admit visit day(s), departmental commencement ceremony, career-focused events, and student social events.
  • Monitoring the content of the student services web pages, recommending updates, and assisting with maintenance of web pages.
  • Processing student reimbursements, purchasing card payments, request vendor checks, and ordering student services supplies.
  • Distributing student fellowship/salary checks and student mail. Distributing and tracking student office and desk keys. * - Other duties may also be assigned
    To be successful in this position, you will bring:
  • Associates degree and one year of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn new computer applications.
  • Basic office administration skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to learn compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
    In addition, preferred requirements include:
  • Four-year college degree.
  • Two years of relevant experience in higher education.
