Job Description Summary:
The part-time Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: training, performance management, onboarding, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Offers first line communication and support to all internal and external customers.
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all nonexempt personnel, students and part-time employees; conducts new-employee orientations for new student workers, adjunct faculty, part-time staff employees.
  • Manages the background checks and reference checks process for new hires.
  • Completes I-9 documentation using E-Verify, ensures accuracy and compliance.
  • Manages applicant tracking system (ATS) by resolving technical issues, and ensuring the software is being used effectively.
  • Processes internal Workflows for employee new hires and terminations.
  • Maintains employment files.
  • Administers the annual performance evaluation process and makes recommendations to the Director of Human Resources for process improvement.
  • Reconcile the department purchasing credit card each month.
  • Assists employees and supervisors with interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Compiles and completes documents for data entry into the Banner system.
  • Completes employment verification and reference requests.
  • Complete HR related benefit and salary surveys.
  • Reviews and approves all business card requests.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.

    Required Qualifications:
    • An Associate’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field with at least 6 months of experience in HR.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field with at least 2 years of experience in HR.
    • Experience with PeopleAdmin and Banner

    Ability:
    The physical activity of this position.
    • Fingering. Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers.

    • Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
    • Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
    The physical requirements of this position.
    • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
    The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision.
    • The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
