Position Summary
Child Development Center. Reporting to the Chair of the School of Human Ecology, the Director oversees the operations of the Child Development Center (CDC), a NAEYC accredited and 3-Star Quality Rated inclusive child development laboratory school.

Essential Functions

  • Hires, supervises, and evaluates Child Development Center employees.
  • Oversees curriculum development and the implementation of curriculum in the classroom.
  • Maintains compliance with state licensing, Quality rated, and NAEYC accreditation standards.
  • Manages the budget.
  • Facilitates college student field experiences, participation, and internships.
  • Builds positive relationships with families, faculty, students, child-care agencies and organizations, and the community.
  • Works closely with faculty in the Child and Family Development Program in providing a top-quality lab school environment as part of the mission of the Child Development Center.

    Master's Degree

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    Effective communication (verbal and written), organization and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment; proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office Applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; legally authorized to work in the United States; successful completion of background investigation prior to employment.

    Preferred Education
    Master's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies, or a closely related discipline

    Preferred Experience
    Two years of experience as center director, center assistant director, or university child development or early childhood education instructor; experience with accreditation, licensure, curriculum, and inclusive environments of early childhood education programs or laboratory schools; experience managing an accredited child care facility; experience supervising and mentoring child care staff.

    Salary Range $49,447-$61,798
