Cleveland State University. The Department of English invites applications for a renewable, one-year College Lecturer position beginning August 24, 2019 and ending May 12, 2020. Normal teaching load is four courses (up to a maximum of 16 credit hours) per semester. The position is annually renewable for an additional five years based on satisfactory performance, programmatic needs and university financial resources. After a comprehensive sixth year review, appointees will be eligible for two successive three-year appointments and six-year appointments thereafter. The position requires an MA in English or in Rhetoric and Composition and at least three years of substantial post-MA composition teaching experience at the college level. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate effectiveness in teaching composition to a general education student audience in an urban setting and who have significant ESL and developmental writing teaching experience. Additional preferred qualifications include the ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.
