Position Summary:

The PT Coach coaches club and intramural sports teams (such as Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Tennis, etc.) and helps students develop related skills.

Job Functions:
  1. Provides positive leadership with strong communication skills
  2. Actively participates in practices to train on sport skills
  3. Encourages student athletes to succeed on the field and academically and to work hard, to graduate, and to never stop learning
  4. Compares how discipline on the field relates to real life decisions and why it is important to remain positive and focused
  5. Recruit student athletes to attend LSC and work effectively with the diverse student population while inspiring them continue their education
  6. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Must possess positive leadership and communication skills to promote a positive team attitude
  • Must be well organized and flexible to meet time, priority and workload demands
  • Must be available to work flexible hours including nights and weekend
  • Must be able to travel to practices, games and tournaments
  • Must be able to maintain relationships, build trust, and act as a mentor & guide to students. Must be willing to be role model and demonstrate how to be an effective coach


Physical Abilities:
  • The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters and record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity.


Salary:

$17.91 per hour

Work Schedule & Conditions:

  • The work involves regular exposure to outdoor elements, and/or regular exposure to hazardous items such as chemicals, toxic or caustic materials, contamination, and electrical hazards. This exposure requires special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, carts, or machines; exposure to contagious diseases or irritant chemicals.
  • Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear, such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields.

Qualifications

Required:
  • High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
