Performs circulation desk procedures such as loaning materials in and out, placing holds, and searching the stacks. Issues and renews library cards, sorts and routes mail, sends library notifications, and overdue notices. Serves as backup for loaning out interlibrary loan materials from the patron hold shelf. Answers directional questions and refers patrons to the appropriate staff member as needed. Assists patrons in using library equipment such as the photocopier, printers, and microfilm reader.


Ability to operate automated library circulation system to and to effectively use them to perform assigned duties.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patrons. must maintain confidentiality of library patron information.
Ability to follow detailed directions.
Ability to work with other librarians and staff personnel.
Ability to understand and perform assigned library procedures.
Must have good interpersonal skills and have the ability to maintain and foster cooperative and courteous working relationships with the public, peers, and supervisors.
Working knowledge of English grammar and spelling, must have the ability to follow basic library methods and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
*Preference will be given to Law Student applicants in their 2nd or 3rd year of Law School. First year Law Students will not be considered.*
