Data and Integration Developer

Job description

Position Summary:

 

Participate in the development, documentation and design of data and application integration. Ensure all data assets of the college have a clear system of record and appropriate integration points coordinated throughout internal and external systems. Assist in the management of the flow of information between departments through on-premise databases, hosted systems and interfaces. Maintain data integrity by working to eliminate redundancy and decommissioning shadow systems. Provide secure access to information as needed by business users. Stay informed of the ways the organization uses its data and identify opportunities for streamlining data processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Support the implementation of major data-related projects. Work within defined data and application integration architecture guidelines, standards, and best practices. Collaborate with the data and integration architects, database administrator, data subject matter experts andimplementation partners to implement effective solutions to businesschallenges and opportunities.

Participate in technical development, enhancement, administration, standards compliance and testing for data and application integration projects: Review existing applications and proposed new projects to clearly establish the system of record and build effective data flows across the organization. Review and remediate existing applications where feasible and provide design and development support for new applications, including conceptual, logical and physical data models; ETL and data movement, data replication, data distribution; and enterprise data integrations from all systems that interface with core ERP systems. Design/re-design and develop data integrations between on-premise and hosted solutions, including Salesforce CRM and Workday.

Perform other tasks assigned by the Associate Director, which may include but not limited to: Continuously develop technical skills for self and other colleagues. Educate and advise on advancements in data integration and data management through self-study, journals, classes and conferences.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree, plus a minimum of three years’ experience developing and/or working with large-scale data systems or an equivalent combination of education/experience.

Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing. Major in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field preferred.

Skills: Oracle skills required: SQL & PL/SQL, performance tuning, data modeling and data design, data integration, database security. Knowledge of software engineering concepts (requirements, management, development models, testing and documentation) and project management. Experience working with Perl, Linux/Unix scripts and systems administration. Familiarity with SOAP and REST APIs

and interacting with xml and json. Experience with Cognos or similar data modeling tools preferred. Must be able to multitask and manage both long and short-term projects. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision in a dynamic team environment. Must have good customer service and communication skills.
