INTERN ROSE & FLOWER GARDEN
Duties: The Rose and Flower Garden Intern assists the Rosarian in garden development, management, and care of the collections. Specialty gardens include: formal rose garden with rock wall, cottage, hardy fern, herb, hosta, mixed border, and crabapple slope. The intern has the opportunity to refine horticulture skills including techniques in formal garden maintenance. Upon completion, the Rose and Flower Garden Intern will have mastered the skills utilized in the culture of modern and antique roses and their garden companion plants. The position pays $12.70 per hour. Applications are strongly encouraged from individuals in minority groups.
The position has a specified start date of July 17, 2019 and an end date of June 5, 2020.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, is required. A strong academic background in horticulture or closely related field with course work or a very strong interest in herbaceous and woody landscape plants strongly preferred. Ability and willingness: to communicate with Arboretum visitors; to work independently and as part of a team; to work in all weather conditions. Must be able and willing to lift at least 25 lbs. A valid driver's license is required. A full background check will be undertaken for the successful applicant.
