Facilities Assistant IV - Building Services Weekend Superintendent

Job description

This position will assist with the everyday operations of the labor crew charged with the responsibility for facilitating office moves, campus event set-ups, and designated preventative maintenance tasks. Employee will inventory, request and install signs; help supervisor coordinate work schedules/assignments; respond to departmental requests for event set-ups; establish priorities for scheduled office moves/campus event set-ups; evaluate and recommend the selection/purchase of appropriate equipment; order supplies; participate in office moves/campus event set-ups, as necessary; and perform related tasks as required.

  • From building services work order system, review and plan out weekend and perform set-ups as required
  • Use of AIM (Facilities work Order System) to prioritize and complete work orders.
  • Meet with building coordinators to determine adequate weekend staffing levels to ensure proper coverage for all events and functions.
  • Deliver high-level customer service effectively to campus community.
  • Unlock buildings and inspect to ensure the entire building/event space are thoroughly cleaned before, during and after events.
  • At the completion of all weekend events, break sets up, store and arrange equipment (tables & chairs) as required.
  • Respond to emergency calls and provide customer service to all patrons as needed.
  • Provide weekend report to supervisor and building coordinators.
  • Perform preventive maintenance/repairs on cleaning equipment as assigned.
  • Identify and handle all physical plant needs as required.
  • Schedule and plan work request in Asset Works.
  • Carefully moves office furnishings such as desks, files, supplies, utilizing flat carts, dollies, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Schedule staff work hours, to accommodate activities scheduled during various hours of the day and night.
  • Assembly/ disassembly of special set-up equipment such as staging, partitions, tents, bunting, scaffolding, etc.
  • Set-up and take down events on and off campus.
  • Supervise the storage, allocation, distribution, set-up, and maintenance of all special events equipment including chairs, tables, staging, lighting systems, flags, lecterns, risers, and other special events equipment.
  • Construction and repair of staging and associated ramps.
  • Recommend ordering of parts as needed.
  • Operate power/hand tools such as drills, high-pressure washers, custodial support equipment, etc. Maintain all such equipment.
  • May perform Lead Custodian duties as needed. Clean carpets and upholstery.
  • Establish and maintain a positive and cooperative working relationship with members of the Plant Operations Division and campus community. Effectively communicates orally, in writing and electronically.
  • May instruct others in proper safety practices and constructively participate in shop safety programs.
  • Maintain an acceptable attendance record, punctuality and meeting deadlines.
  • Maintain a functional awareness of the typical hazards of the work place. 25. Promptly report accidents on the job, preparing and submitting accident reports.
  • Perform building Services specials projects and other duties as assigned.

  • High School Graduate, a vocational school graduate or have GED and have 3 years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of the practices, methods, equipment and tools used in service maintenance and relevant safety standards
  • Ability to understand and follow oral/written instructions is essential.
  • The successful candidate must have a valid state driver's license.
  • Skill to operate, repair and maintain various power and hand tools, custodial equipment, etc.
  • Ability to work individually or in teams as well as with diverse groups.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally, writing or electronically.
  • Ability to work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.
  • Ability to follow through and carry out assignments.
  • Problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Ability to understand and apply University and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of proper and safe use of custodial equipment, chemicals, tools, etc.

  • Associate degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in Custodial Services and/or office cleaning
