Assistant Director of Door Access Hardware

The Department of Campus Services is looking for an Assistant Director of Door Access Hardware whose primary responsibility will be to oversee the electronic and mechanical lock installations, maintenance processes and to ensure that the campus community receives the appropriate support in a timely manner. This position will manage a team of hardware and field technicians across multiple campuses and will report to the Director of Card Service & Door Access. Position is 3rd senior administrative official in line responsible for directing a department, division, or college and could report to either an Associate Director or Director.

  • Manage a team of technicians responsible for installing and servicing electronic and mechanical locks across multiple campuses
  • Oversee two physical campus locations (Marietta and Kennesaw) that respond to maintenance and repairs as well as new installations
  • Work with and supervise all contractors, provide support in preparing bidding documents, prepare written and electronic documentation
  • Manage all purchases and inventory of the locksmith department
  • Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance program for all locking systems
  • Collaborate with the Campus Services Customer Service team for ensuring excellence communication and customer services is provided to students, employees, and other KSU affiliates
  • Collaboration with stakeholders for renovations or new construction of buildings
  • Oversee various contracts that will provide for additional materials and labor to complete lock installations
  • Create and maintain processes and procedures to ensure all work performed under the Door Access Hardware Team is performed within established guidelines
  • Creates and maintains door access standards for KSU and works with campus partners to ensure all new construction and renovations meet these standards
  • Supports the Director in planning and coordination of new electronic door access installations by third-party vendors and/or KSU personnel
  • Ability to work autonomously and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Stay abreast of industry improvements, technology advancements, and best practices to ensure best-in-class university ID card program solutions

  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of related work experience OR 7+ years related work experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Completion of an appropriate Locksmith Apprenticeship Program, Door Hardware Institute (DHI) or SALTO Systems Installer Certification preferred
  • Knowledge of low voltage devices for installations, connection, repair and replacement
  • Physical support of one or more electronic access control systems, particular experience with SALTO System, Onity Integra and Lenel OnGuard are preferred
