ASSOC DIRECTOR GRAD AND PROF SCHOOL ADVISING
Duties: Penn Career Services is seeking an Associate Director to join a team of four advisors serving students and alumni applying to graduate and professional school. The Associate Director will report to the Senior Associate Director and be responsible for advising students applying to law and medical school, as well as other graduate and professional programs, as part of a highly collaborative and collegial group.
The Associate Director will plan and present programs related to graduate school admissions, review and critique application materials, maintain relationships with graduate programs, become expert on national admissions trends and statistics regarding outcomes for Penn students/alumni, collaborate with Career Services colleagues and University partners, and contribute to website development, newsletters, and electronic/printed communications. Additionally, the Associate Director interviews and prepares letters in support of Penn applicants to medical and dental school. Occasional evening programming and travel to visit schools and attend conferences.
Qualifications: A master's degree plus 2-3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in graduate and professional school advising, academic advising, graduate admissions or a related field required. Knowledge of, or very strong ability and motivation to learn about, law school admissions required. Excellent counseling skills, good judgement, and cultural competency. Outstanding writing and presentation skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Experience in web development, design, and adapting to new technology a plus. Ability to develop strong, positive relationships with students/alumni, colleagues, University offices, and graduate/professional program representatives. Professionalism, flexibility, and creativity.
