TWO FACULTY POSITIONS IN MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN

The Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin seeks outstanding applicants for two tenured or tenure-track faculty positions in the area of manufacturing systems with a particular interest in enabling innovative process technologies, or creating novel in-line measurement capabilities for enhancing manufacturing yields. Applicants are sought at the rank of Assistant Professor, but candidates with outstanding records of accomplishment will also be considered for the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Specific areas of interest include but are not limited to:
- Additive Manufacturing: Metals, multimaterial/multifunctional, and multi-scale additive manufacturing.
- Nanoscale Manufacturing: Roll-to-roll, wafer-scale, hybrid integration of flexible and wafer-based, biology-assisted nanomanufacturing, and nanomanufacturing for healthcare.
- In-line Metrology: High-speed, non-destructive metrology for additive and nanomanufacturing processes, process control, and yield enhancement technologies.
The department has a track record of creating technologies in additive manufacturing and nanoscale manufacturing that have been widely adopted in industry. Successful candidates will have opportunities to collaborate with centers that house outstanding research facilities including the NSF NASCENT Center (https://nascent.utexas.edu/) in the area of nanomanufacturing, and the Advanced Manufacturing and Design Center (https://sites.utexas.edu/amdc/) in the area of additive manufacturing.
Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. in Engineering or Natural Sciences prior to their start date. For senior hires, evidence of technical leadership and accomplishments commensurate with the rank are essential. Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop a strong sponsored research program, supervise graduate students, collaborate with other faculty, and serve the university and the profession.
