The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Children's Hospital Colorado invites applications for a psychologist position in the Partial Hospitalization Program and Outpatient clinics at the Pediatric Mental Health Institute. The Partial Hospitalization (PHP) Program provides short-term intensive evaluation and stabilization for children and adolescents with ages four through seventeen years who are in crisis and may have co-morbid conditions (medical and/or psychiatric). The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychology is a vital and growing research and teaching section in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado Denver. Based at the UC Denver Anschutz Medical and Research Campus, the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry benefits from affiliation with world-class interdisciplinary professional education, research programs and clinical services.
The appropriate candidate must demonstrate expertise in the use of evidence-based treatment approaches for children and adolescents in crisis. On PHP, the position will involve providing standardized assessment, developing individual treatment plans, assisting with program development and protocols for brief interventions, supervising trainees, and providing ongoing consultative support to members of the treatment team, including milieu staff. Innovative program development is a critical component of PHP and opportunities to engage in quality improvement and research initiatives will be integral to this position. The psychologist will oversee management and facilitation of the implementation of behavioral intervention plans in the milieu setting and take primary responsibility for the individual therapy for some patients. Within the outpatient clinic, the psychologist will provide evidence-based assessment and treatment to children and adolescents presenting with a wide range of emotional and behavioral difficulties. Unique to this role is the opportunity to engage in program development aimed at improving continuity of care for patients who are seen across levels of care.
The successful candidate will have an excellent knowledge of assessment, preferably with acute psychiatric disorders, program development, experience supervising and mentoring trainees and other mental health providers, as well as teaching and developing course materials. Experience in using evidence-based interventions such as CBT, DBT, behavior/parent management, and transdiagnostic protocols is required.
