The Office of Student Financial Services seeks an Assistant Director of Financial Aid to assist with the comprehensive review and awarding of undergraduate, graduate, federal, state, and/or institutional financial assistance in a school or central unit. The Assistant Director of Financial Aid will work in a team environment to ensure organizational compliance with federal legislation and regulations for the office, or designated segment. This position works with committees to disseminate information, provide guidance, and develop policy and procedures. The Assistant Director of Financial Aid may supervise professional and support staff, and conduct needs analysis and counsel students and parents.
A bachelor's degree, or equivalent, is required, as is at least four years of progressively responsible experience in higher education financial aid. The successful applicant is process oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks, and possesses a strong grasp of Need Analysis and the evaluation of complicated tax returns. The ability to provide innovative responsiveness to problem-solving requiring the ability to work well with information technology personnel to solve resource and procedural problems is required. The successful applicant has a comprehensive knowledge of Financial Aid, and is creative, energetic, and demonstrates a sincere commitment to providing quality assistance to a socio-economically diverse student population. Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel is required.
A master's degree is preferred, as is experience with the development and implementation of policies. Experience with public speaking, and experience working collaboratively with information technology personnel to solve resource and procedural problems is preferred. The ability to review and implement general financial aid program policies and procedures in a higher education setting is preferred, as is proficiency in People Soft, Image Now, The College Board, Federal Program software from the Dept of Education and Veterans Administration.
