About the College/Department

The management department prides itself on maintaining a collegial environment. Our tenure track faculty currently includes Vikas Anand, Michael Cummings, John Delery, Alan Ellstrand, Nina Gupta, Jon Johnson, Jennifer Kish-Gephart, Anne O'Leary-Kelly, Carol Reeves, Jason Ridge, Chris Rosen, Lauren Simon, Adam Stoverink, and Dan Worrell. Our clinical faculty includes Anna Gousevskaia, Sarah Lueke, and Denise Soignet. Our faculty regularly publish in top journals including the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organization Science, Personnel Psychology, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice. In addition, our faculty have received best paper awards from journals and conferences, have obtained large research grants from public and corporate sponsors, serve on editorial boards of numerous top journals, and hold leadership positions in the Academy of Management. Our faculty have also won a number of teaching awards, including four campus-wide teaching awards as well as state-wide and SEC-level awards. The Sam M. Walton College of Business is one of the fastest growing colleges in the nation and has a current enrollment over 6,000 students. In the last 20 years, the University of Arkansas completed fundraising campaigns that raised over one billion dollars in private contributions, with the Walton College receiving almost a quarter of those amounts in gifts and endowments. A new capital campaign is underway, with a number of transformational gift ideas in place that will benefit the Walton College. Funds from previous campaigns have been used to establish scholarships, endowed professorships and chairs, summer research support, and to install state of the art classroom technology in the College.

The College is located on a four-building business campus including the Walton College building, housing most undergraduate and Ph.D. education, Willard Walker Hall, home of our graduate programs, the Donald W. Reynolds Center for Enterprise Development and the J.B. Hunt Transport Center for Academic Excellence, site of our state-of-the-art behavioral research lab. In 2018 U.S. News and World Report recognized the University of Arkansas as one of its 10 "up and coming" public universities. The 2016 U.S. News and World Report ranked the Walton College's undergraduate program 27th among all public universities, and our college is among the top 50 of all public and private undergraduate business schools in the US. Our full-time MBA program was ranked 30th and our Executive MBA program was ranked 32nd among all public universities in the 2014 U.S. News and World Report rankings. In 2013 our full-time MBA program was ranked 11th nationally by Bloomberg Business Week in terms of ROI.

Summary of Job Duties

The Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas is seeking applications from individuals to serve as the Chair of the Department of Management. The major content areas of this department are: Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, and Strategic Management. The department seeks a collegial scholar who possesses a strong research record in any of the above areas that will be commensurate with appointment to a Full Professor.

The administrative component of the department chair role will include the maintenance of a conducive research environment, and in stewarding the departmental resources. The department chair is also responsible for leading the faculty in managing curriculum relating to the management major and oversees the scheduling of classes. In the latter part of his/her role the department chair receives support from the Assistant Department Chair. The Chair also serves on the College's Executive Committee and supports the Dean in evaluating and supporting college initiatives. The department chair position is a 50% administrative position. The teaching load is typically one course per year.



Minimum Qualifications
