Associate or Full Professor in Rehabilitation Counseling

Job description

The Department of Early Childhood, Special Education, and Rehabilitation Counseling in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, associate/full professor position in Rehabilitation Counseling. The successful candidate will provide expertise and support to the residential and distance learning master's and campus doctoral level CACREP-accredited programs in Rehabilitation Counseling and will coordinate the doctoral program. The appointment is a nine-month appointment, effective August 16, 2019.

This faculty member will teach a two-two course load for master's students in residential and online programs and doctoral students in Rehabilitation Counseling, Education, Research, and Policy; engage with Rehabilitation Counseling faculty in program planning and course development; assist with measures for determining and evaluating student learning outcomes and dispositions; advise campus and distance learning master's students; advise doctoral students; direct and serve on master's and doctoral student thesis and dissertation committees; develop a programmatic research agenda; seek/submit applications for external funding for research and students; and provide service and engagement activities to the profession, department, college, and university. Summer teaching may be available and is optional.

Required Education

Earned doctorate in Rehabilitation Counseling, Rehabilitation Counselor Education, Counselor Education, or Counseling from a CACREP-accredited program; Educational or Rehabilitation Psychology or Mental Health, or a closely related program.

Required Related Experience

Experience as a rehabilitation counselor and/or mental health counselor; evidence of a commitment to developing a significant program or research, commensurate with experience, including a successful record of external funding; evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching and advising and interest in using applicable technology to assist student learning, commensurate with experience; evidence of a commitment to working collegially and with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Required License/ Registration/Certification

Earned certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor or demonstrated eligibility for this certification; earned certification as a Certified National Counselor or demonstrated eligibility for this certification; and possession of or eligibility for Kentucky licensure as a Professional Counselor.

Preferred Education/Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas: mental health counseling, rehabilitation counseling, counseling, substance abuse, developmental disabilities, or closely related field; experience teaching and advising in higher education; experience in providing direct mental health counseling, rehabilitation counseling, or veteran services; and experience in instructional technology, assistive technology, and/or supervision of practicum and internship students.
