Position Summary: The Kenan-Flagler Business School, located at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is a top-20 ranked professional business school, offering a range of professional and academic degree programs, to approximately 3,000 students, including: an MBA delivered through five channels; a Master of Accounting degree; a PhD, an Undergraduate Degree in Business, and a dual degree program with Tsinghua University. Beyond its degree programs, Kenan-Flagler Business School operates an Executive Development program to help build business skills among external clients, and the Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise, which is the outreach and research arm of the business school. The Technical Director is a key part of the KF-Next initiative, which uses emerging technologies such as virtual reality and artificial intelligence teaching experiences to increase student learning outcomes and help students become better business decision makers. This technical leader will join a team of proven business professionals, faculty, visual artists, computer scientists and futurists developing cutting edge instructional technology to solve specific problems facing business education. Specifically, the Technical Director will serve as a technical point of contact, collaborate with cross-functional teams, architect, design and code complex system and analyze, test and lead support of existing systems. The software systems designed by the Technical Director will include local storage in our UNC data center and remotely with cloud storage and will require complex networking and security protocols The position will serve as a subject matter expert on cutting edge artificial intelligence and virtual reality programming, and will research/stay abreast of technology trends and best practices. This role is a hybrid between management of development resources and hands-on development of Ai (Artificial Intelligence) and VR (Virtual Realty) instruction systems from the user experience to the server maintenance. The job requires the ability to manage and lead multiple technical products from ideation to product launch while managing local and remote development teams and contractors. The position will report to the Director of the Kenan-Flagler Next program.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree required
Qualification and Experience: The position requires a proven leader in the IT field with significant hands-on development experience. -5+ plus years in Full-stack development experience (AngularJS, React, Node.js or other framework), with a strong knowledge of backend experience in Python and databases (Postgres preferred) -3 plus years' experience managing Unix/Linux server instances and configurations -Experience designing/ architect complex software solutions using multiple cloud services -Experience managing and developing on AWS, GCS and/or IBM Cloud systems and services -Experience implementing Artificial Intelligence applications -Experience working with large data sets -Experience managing and securing complex sever systems -Proven ability to innovate and solve complex user experience problems with technical solutions -Proven usage of good development practices that include awareness of network security, commenting, clean and consistent code -Preferred experience working in computer graphics, gaming or virtual reality development -Preferred experience with FERPA and/or HIPPA data
