GENERAL SUMMARY Recruit, counsel and coach all student athletes participating in an assigned varsity sport.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES Adhere to any and all NCAA, Mid-American Conference and Eastern Michigan University policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures.

Organize and direct all activities of a varsity sport.

Counsel and advise student athletes with academic or personal problems.

Direct the recruitment of prospective high school athletes to Eastern Michigan University.

Supervise assistant coaches and athletic support personnel.

Assist in the scheduling of athletic contests.

Determine the amount and quality of equipment and supplies to be ordered.

Monitor all expenditures associated with varsity team budget.

Perform various community services and functions such as clinic and speaking engagements.

Instruct classes as assigned by the Department.

Perform related departmental duties as required.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED Functional supervision may be exercised over assistant coaches and/or general support staff.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED General supervision is received from the Director or Associate Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.QUALIFICATIONS A Bachelor's degree is required.

Previous player experience in the assigned sport at the college level is necessary.

One year previous experience instructing and/or coaching in the assigned sport is necessary.

Knowledge of NCAA policies is required.

Previous recruitment, scheduling, training, and sports fund raising experience is desirable.

Experience in counseling and advising student athletes with problems is desirable.
