Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Advanced Degree. In lieu of the Advanced Degree, a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) and three (3) years of full-time administrative experience in a clean energy, start-up and/or incubator environment involving client coaching and/or mentoring. Experience operating technical laboratory equipment. Experience utilizing data analytics to define, gather, and/or report on metrics. Proficient with MS Office Suite and Google Suite.


Preferred Qualifications:

PhD (or foreign equivalent) in engineering or related field with a focus on energy. Project management experience. Experience delivering presentations and/or training. Grant writing experience. Experience developing and delivering user training. Experience with expense tracking and reporting. Experience with the Long Island and New York State clean energy and start-up environment. Demonstrated experience in a supervisory, managerial, or leadership role. Experience creating surveys utilizing software such as SurveyMonkey, Google Forms, and/or Qualtrics. Experience working in a Higher Education or Academic environment.

Brief Description of Duties:

As Program Manager for both the Clean Energy Business Incubator Program (CEBIP) as well as the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center (AERTC), this position is responsible for assisting in assessing client needs and providing solutions and resources to streamline “innovation to market” pathways for clean energy startups. Therefore, having a person capable of identifying risks, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines, showing accountability and resourcefulness in solving challenges is imperative. The successful candidate should be able to work with diverse stakeholders to plan and execute multiple independent projects as well as multi-part complex projects showcasing an in-depth level of client coaching and/or mentoring. The selected candidate will have demonstrated professionalism with clients, suppliers, and partners.

For the Clean Energy Business Incubator Program (CEBIP) the work involves planning and executing tailored solutions to help CEBIP and its clients meet NYSERDA-defined milestones, propelling their business forward. The Clean Energy Business Incubator Program (CEBIP) provides assistance and resources for developers of disruptive renewable and clean energy technologies.

For the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center (AERTC) the Program Manager will be responsible for managing and supervising AERTC’s research laboratory, providing highly complex and technical AERTC equipment training and hands-on support to researchers and their assistants. Therefore, the candidate will be able to train on the proper ways to operate technical laboratory equipment. The mission of the Advanced Energy Center (AERTC) is innovative energy research, education and technology deployment with a focus on efficiency, conservation, renewable energy and nanotechnology applications for new and novel sources of energy.

The candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.


For the Clean Energy Business Incubator Program (CEBIP), the Program Manager is tasked with collaborating with the Executive Director to plan and execute client intake; providing direct advisory support to client companies for individual needs such as grant applications, pitch-decks, marketing materials and pitch presentations; driving and creating the content for CEBIP’s social media and marketing efforts; planning and executing professional development and start-up support workshops and seminars.

CEBIP Client Engagement: Provide technical support with regards to clean energy technology and programming. Track client progress and milestones; provide tailored feedback and coaching for pitch competitions, grants and outreach. Drive client pipeline, intake management including vetting companies based on but not limited to: technology, innovation, team, technology to market path.

CEBIP Program Management: Provide technical support. Assist in NYSERDA milestone tracking and reporting. Interface with vendors and consultants for website maintenance; newsletter creation and distribution. Develop communication strategies and supervise interns to lead and execute social media and marketing efforts. Create systems to facilitate new collaborations and resource-sharing. Lead new grant efforts on behalf of the CEBIP, driving more research and funding for the center. Assist in technical grant writing and grant management, metrics analysis and reporting. Develop and maintain relations with partners, resources, and stakeholders locally and nationally

CEBIP Event Coordination: Conceptualize, coordinate and execute outreach workshops series, seminars, panels, etc. for professional and technical development of clients, users and collaborators.

For the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center (AERTC) the Program Manager is tasked with: leading new user equipment training; providing hands on equipment capabilities to support any ongoing research; assisting in grant writing and representing AERTC at conferences and to stakeholders; driving and creating the content for AERTC ‘s social media and marketing efforts; collaborating with the Director of Operations and AERTC’s academic and administrative staff to assist in planning of the Advanced Energy Conference.

AERTC Lab Management: Develop, manage and supervise AERTC’s user facility for laboratory equipment. Train new users and assist existing users on laboratory instruments. Track and manage instrument loans and maintenance. Assist laboratory users in work planning and scheduling for streamlining user projects. Provide technical assistance to laboratory users including test plan reviews and grant implementation. Proactively research and evaluate grants and research opportunities for AERTC to take lead in.

AERTC Program Management: Assist the Director of Operations in all technical areas within the Center. Provide technical support on the Center shared lab equipment. Assist in newsletter creation and distribution. Develop communication strategies to lead and execute social media and marketing efforts. Create systems to facilitate new collaborations and resource-sharing. Lead new grant efforts on behalf of the AERTC, driving more research and funding for the center. Assist in technical grant writing and grant management, metrics analysis and reporting. Facilitate collaborations between AERTC researchers and Center’s partners. Develop and maintain relations with partners, resources, and stakeholders locally and nationally. Responsible for initiating, managing and assessing collaborative R&D Projects with industry and faculty. Identify funding opportunities and prepare proposals to support said collaboration.

AERTC Event Coordination: Conceptualize, coordinate and execute outreach workshops series, seminars, panels, etc. for professional and technical development of clients, users and collaborators.

Other duties or projects as assigned.
