The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Virginia seeks applications for a non-tenure-track teaching faculty (Academic General Faculty, AGF) position to begin in August 2019. We seek applicants who share our interest and enthusiasm for excellence in electrical and computer engineering education. Our department is committed to creating and benefiting from a diverse environment of capable, inspired individuals that interact and collaborate to learn and advance knowledge without barriers.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in electrical or computer engineering or a related discipline by the start date of appointment. They must have an interest in and ability to teach a broad set of courses in our undergraduate curriculum. Course load will be two to three sections per semester consisting of a mix of upper- and lower-division courses. The candidate should be comfortable working in a studio-style teaching environment with strong hands-on and design components integrated directly into the lectures. Faculty in this position will have service responsibilities, and scholarship will be required for promotion. The department strongly values scholarship activities by General Faculty that have the potential to advance electrical and computer engineering education.
This position will have a renewable three-year contract. University policies ensure that these positions benefit from opportunities for professional development.
