Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of U.Va.'s buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.
The Trades Utility Senior Worker supports Facilities Management's goal of providing consistent, cost effective, and reliable maintenance and service to the University facilities. The incumbent performs skilled repair and maintenance tasks in one or more building trades.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of four years of professional work experience in either electrical, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical trades, or building maintenance and at least one year of professional experience performing skilled work in two additional trades. Working knowledge of the installation, repair, maintenance practices, equipment and materials used in the assigned skilled trades areas, as well as familiarity with a variety of diagnostic tools, instruments, equipment, and hand and power tools is essential. Ability to perform some heavy lifting and manual labor is required. Must be able to work independently and as a member of the team is essential. A valid driver's license, with a positive points balance is also required.
