The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Clemson University invites applications to fill a full-time Lecturer position in Mechanical Engineering to begin January 2019. The position will be responsible for coordinating undergraduate laboratories, teaching undergraduate courses, and advising student competition teams.
The teaching responsibilities may include hands on laboratory experiments, and undergraduate core courses with emphasis on mechanical design, and dynamic systems. The position will be appointed with a one-year contract, renewable annually, and with a potential for a promotion to Senior Lecturer after five years of excellent performance.
Primary duties include managing laboratory resources to support the educational mission, teaching up to 2 courses per semester, traveling with student teams to at least one competition annually and actively contributing to core graduate and undergraduate teaching missions of the department.
The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D. degree or a Master's degree with at least 10 years of teaching/research/industrial experience in Mechanical Engineering. The candidate must have the leadership and communication skills to coordinate educational program objectives in the laboratories, manage daily laboratory activities including laboratory teaching assistants, and to motivate over 50 students per lecture in a dynamic interactive environment.
