Occupational Summary

Coordinate and participate in the planning and management of data collection and maintenance systems to 3-yr grant funded study at Duke's Center for Health Policy and Inequalities Research, Project STYLE 2.0 (Strength Through Youth Livin' Empowered). The goal of STYLE 2.0 is to improve HIV care continuum outcomes among HIV-positive young Black men who have sex with men (YBMSM) in the Triangle region (Durham County, Orange County, Wake County) of North Carolina (NC). The project coordinator will serve as a non-clinical care manager for the YBMSM who are enrolled in the study.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement and coordinate systems designed to monitor the collection, storing, cleaning and dissemination of data related to specific projects as required to assist programs and/or projects director.
  • Perform a range of non-clinical care management functions (outreach, health education, informal counseling, social support, resource linkages, transportation coordination, and advocacy) for all study participants and accurately documents activities with follow-up and plans of action.
  • Maintain liaison with project participants, including researchers, project personnel, participating subjects as well as other interested parties to establish a communication system to coordinate the various aspects of the project; respond to inquiries about the project according to established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain liaison with faculty members, practicing professionals and representatives of related projects to coordinate the collection and dissemination of related data.
  • Serve as liaison to health/social services providers to build and maintain effective relationships with physicians, site leadership, hospital staff and other community stakeholders to ensure timely and appropriate patient follow-up. Coordinates medical care visits and attends provider meetings to exchange data, policy and program information.
  • Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations and/or conclusions as requested.
  • Review and evaluate data monitoring and handling systems to determine consistency of data collected from various sources; recommend changes and modification to systems as required to ensure timeliness, accuracy and efficiency.
  • Recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, promotions, performance appraisals, transfers and scheduling time off.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Education

Work requires communication and analytical skills normally acquired through a 4 year college education.

Experience

Work requires a general knowledge of research methods, procedures and activities normally acquired through 1 year of social science research experience. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
