Description of Position

The fulltime faculty position combines teaching Early Childhood Education/Child Development classes and overall supervision of the Contra Costa College Early Learning Center laboratory school.

Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience
Master€™s in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/ family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education


Bachelor€™s in any of the above


Master€™s in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies or family and consumer studies

OR possess a valid California Community College Instructor Credential authorizing full-time instruction in Mathematics

Desirable Qualifications
1. Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues of diverse backgrounds.
2. Experience in administering and supervising an early childhood center- based program, including fiscal management, and computer literacy.
3. Experience in some relevant adult education teaching capacity.
4. Experience in personnel management and promoting positive staff relations.
5. Experience in supervising infant/toddler, preschool, and school age programs, including curriculum planning for such programs.
6. Experience in parent-school relations and parent education.
7. Experience in integrating research theory into an early childhood center based program.
8. Ability to motivate and support innovation in an early childhood center- based program.
9. Experience working with children and families effected by trauma.
10.Ability to teach variety of Early Childhood topical courses
11. Experience with current Early Childhood rating systems which evaluate children and environments.
12. Experience using technology as a teaching tool.
