Nature of Work
This position is responsible for the supervision of personnel and programming that support new students prior to their enrollment at UWG. This position supports the UWG Strategic Plan, the SEM Plan and RPG initiatives in cooperation and collaboration with multiple divisions and departments across the university. Major duties and responsibilities of the position are: direct supervision of 3 professional and 1 support staff; cooperation and collaboration with Academic Affairs in the marketing and registration of new freshmen into First Year Programs; departmental budget management and development; program implementation and coordination of a comprehensive orientation program for incoming students; program implementation and coordination of Pack Premiere, UWG’s freshmen immersion program prior to the start of fall semester; coordination and collaboration on recruitment and course offerings for dual enrollment students; coordination and implementation of a summer transition program for at-risk students; development of appropriate assessment and ad-hoc reports for continuous improvement; other duties as assigned that meet departmental, divisional and university objectives.
Master’s degree required and a minimum of three to five years of progressively responsible experience in higher education. Previous employment experience in one of the functional areas of the Office of New Student Programs: Orientation, dual enrollment, or First-year programs. Demonstrated knowledge best practices in First-Year Experience and Student Success and Retention research.
Excellent supervision and personnel management skills, the ability to manage change, as well as effective oral and written communication skills required in order to effectively communicate with prospective and current students, faculty, and staff. Candidates must have strong leadership, organization and prioritization skills, and the ability to chair or lead campus-wide committees.
Salary $58,548 minimum - $83,856 midpoint
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and sit at a desk for long periods of time.
