Salary Range: $1,757.50 - $3,086.50 per month
Anticipated Hiring Range:$2,000 to $2,400 per month

Note: This part-time (equivalent to 20 hours per week), exempt position is temporary and expected to terminate on or before one year from the date of hire. Extension of this assignment is contingent upon sufficient additional funding and satisfactory performance.Eligible for medical, dental and vision benefits plus paid vacation, sick leave, etc.

Note: The position is eligible for extension through the end of the CSU Summer Arts' Memorandum of Understanding with Fresno State, currently set as August 30, 2021.

Organizational Description:

Summer Arts is a CSU systemwide program which provides intensive masterclasses plus a festival in the visual, performing, literary, and media arts. More than 400 students and up to 100 professional guest artists take part each year. Summer Arts courses and public events take place in California at Fresno State and abroad.

Overview:

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of CSU Summer Arts, the Community Relations Specialist works independently on a broad range of projects involving the local development and execution of fundraising, communications, public affairs, media relations, and marketing in support of Summer Arts. The incumbent is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external constituents to ensure that the public receives relevant, timely, and positive information about the university and the Summer Arts program.

Position Summary:

&#9;
  • Initiate and participate in local fundraising for scholarships and event sponsorships. Inform the Director of significant gifts. Assist in the stewardship of gifts; write follow-up thank you notes to donors.
  • &#9;
  • Develop advertising strategies with local television, radio, newspapers, and other forms of print/social media to secure coverage and promotion of Summer Arts.
  • &#9;
  • Work to increase national awareness of Summer Arts through the press, websites, and other forms of media.
  • &#9;
  • Build awareness of Summer Arts in Fresno and the surrounding communities by attending arts and community-related meetings, (e.g., Arts Council of Fresno County, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Visitor's and Convention's Bureau, etc.).
  • &#9;
  • Facilitate introductions between Fresno County arts leaders, patrons, dignitaries and the Summer Arts leadership. Attend meetings as required.
  • &#9;
  • Sell and organize trade advertisements in Summer Arts publications, (i.e.,Playbill).
  • &#9;
  • Create and distribute press releases and information on guest artists and public events. Coordinate television and radio spots for guest artists.
  • &#9;
  • Manage all communication, meeting dates, and hospitality for the Community Board. Attend meetings as assigned.
  • &#9;
  • Assist in securing entertainment for Guest Artist dinners.
  • &#9;
  • Maintain weekly digital contact and transaction journal. Post activity to Summer Arts SharePoint weekly.

  • A history of regular attendance and positive performance evaluations
  • Education and Experience:

    &#9;Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with substantial course work in marketing, communications, advertising, and the arts&#9;Two years of related publishing and fundraising/entrepreneurial work experience&#9;Experience with social media marketing and outreachPreferred Skills:

      &#9;&#9;
    • Development and fundraising experience for all local, statewide, and national fundraising.
    • &#9;&#9;
    • Bilingual in both English and Spanish.
