Position Description

This is a grant funded position and continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of grant funds and approval by the Governing Board.

Under direction, the workforce research analyst performs a variety of duties related to the preparation and reporting of results on studies pertaining to regional employment and community college outcomes metrics. Conducts studies on emerging industries and occupations; performs comprehensive data collection; analyzes data using Excel, SPSS, and other applications; and assists in the development of labor market reports, research studies, and statewide and regional environmental scans. Knowledge or experience of industry assessments, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and labor market research is desirable.

Responsibilities

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Assists in the writing of labor market studies for traditional and emerging industries to inform local and regional community colleges.
• Collects and inputs a variety of labor market and workforce data, including survey data using publishing software or online tools.
• Conducts literature research; reviews and maintains current research literature.
• Conducts qualitative text analysis.
• Maintains accurate and confidential data files in both hard copy and electronic form.
• Prepares tables, charts, and graphs in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; writes drafts of material and data for presentation and/or publication.
• Assists in conducting phone interviews.
• Interprets, synthesizes, and analyzes data using scientific or statistical techniques.
• Modifies and plans research procedures and survey instruments.
• Assists in research design and applies appropriate data collection techniques.
• Reports on status of research activities.
• Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience:
- One year of increasingly responsible experience in the collection, analysis, reporting, and presentation of research data. Academic research experience can count as well.
• Ability to:
- Perform statistical research and analysis of labor market and other data using independent judgment and personal initiative.
- Review and summarize relevant research literature.
- Compile, organize and analyze data and prepare comprehensive labor market reports and environmental scans.
- Perform appropriate statistical applications with data to support research activities.
- Create and maintain research files related to a variety of research projects and studies undertaken by the COE.
- Plan and organize work to meet schedules and changing deadlines.
- Operate office equipment and technologies including computers, online cloud applications, and database applications.
- Adapt to and learn changing technologies and functionality of new equipment and systems.
- Work independently and effectively in the absence of supervision.
- Present complex technical information both orally and in writing.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of industry assessments, qualitative and quantitative data analysis and/or labor market research.
- Research design, data evaluation, and database management.
- Applied research, statistics, statistical applications, collection and correlation of data.
- Computer based and online data management systems.
- Methods and techniques of technical analysis and report writing.
- Principles and techniques of research and analysis.

MEETING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS DOES NOT ASSURE THE CANDIDATE OF

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a closely related field.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Working hours: Hours will vary between 8am - 5pm, Monday-Friday (19 hours per week).

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a part-time (19 hours per week), 12-month, classified bargaining unit position. Continued employment is contingent upon availability of grant funds and approval of the Chaffey College Governing Board. Starting date: as soon as possible. Range 33 of the CSEA Salary Schedule, with a starting salary of Step A, $2,750.73.
