Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), a premier urban, public research university in the state seeks to hire a Coordinator to join the staff of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity in the Division of Student Affairs. Student Conduct and Academic Integrity supports the educational mission of the university by educating students about appropriate behavior, developing their ethical decision-making skills, and helping them understand how their actions affect others. If misconduct is alleged, Student Conduct and Academic Integrity provides prompt, fair, and impartial resolution to the matter, balancing both the interests of the individual student and the community at large.

Job Summary:

The Coordinator for Student Conduct & Academic Integrity serves to assist the Director of Student Conduct & Academic Integrity for student discipline matters and receives direction from the Director.  This includes but is not limited to:

  • Provide notice of alleged violation(s), infraction(s), and sanction(s) and recommend/assign decision on cases.
  • Educate community members about their rights and responsibilities related to the Student Code of Conduct and the VCU Honor System.
  • Create and maintain educational programs and events to promote civility, respect and integrity for the VCU community.
  • Policy creation and review
  • Participate in university open houses, New Student Orientation for First Year & Transfer Students, individual school/college orientation events, and individual school/college faculty meeting or classes.
  • Meet with the director to review case load and ensure that all cases are resolved within an appropriate time frame
  • Maintain and track data of all disciplinary actions and sanctions including community service hours, educational sanctions, and outreach activities

Reports To: Director of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity

Preferred Hiring Standards:

  • Experience adjudicating student disciplinary cases – conduct and/or academic integrity
  • Familiarity with Banner, Maxient and other Higher Ed technology applications
  • Experience compiling and reporting statistics for university and federal compliance
  • Ability to function independently and as a member of a team in a constantly changing environment
  • Experience working at a large, urban, research institution
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse setting

Minimum Hiring Standards:

  • Master’s degree is required; prefer in higher education administration, counseling or related areas
  • At least one year of demonstrated experience working with university/college student conduct and/or academic integrity cases
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal and public relations skills
  • Experience and skills in operating computers, specifically Microsoft Office Applications
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so
  • Previous experience working in a higher education setting
