Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), a premier urban, public research university in the state seeks to hire an Assistant Director for Strategic Partnerships and Outreach to join the staff of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity in the Division of Student Affairs. Student Conduct and Academic Integrity supports the educational mission of the university by educating students about appropriate behavior, developing their ethical decision-making skills, and helping them understand how their actions affect others. If misconduct is alleged, Student Conduct and Academic Integrity provides prompt, fair, and impartial resolution to the matter, balancing both the interests of the individual student and the community at large.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director for Strategic Partnerships and Outreach in Student Conduct & Academic Integrity serves to assist the Director of Student Conduct & Academic Integrity for student discipline matters and receives direction from the Director. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Fostering positive relationships with constituents and other university offices
  • Conduct advocacy, education, and outreach with constituents and other university offices
  • Adjudicate student conduct and/or academic integrity cases
  • Responsible for collecting, maintaining and tracking statistical data of disciplinary actions
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to evaluate effectiveness and efficiency of the university policies  
  • Attend and represent the Office of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity by participating in various university committees
  • Create and review department policy
  • Recruit, select, and train volunteers and support staff
  • Supervise graduate assistants and/or interns 

Reports To: Director of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity

Preferred Hiring Standards:

  • Experience developing and executing outreach and educational campaigns/events/programs
  • Experience compiling and reporting statistics for university and federal compliance
  • Experience adjudicating student disciplinary cases – conduct and/or academic integrity
  • Familiarity with Banner, Maxient and other Higher Ed technology applications
  • Ability to function independently and as a member of a team in a constantly changing environment
  • Experience working at a large, urban, research institution
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse setting

Minimum Hiring Standards:

  • Master’s degree is required; prefer in higher education administration, counseling or related areas
  • One to three years of demonstrated experience working with university/college student conduct and/or academic integrity cases
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal and public relations skills
  • Experience and skills in operating computers, specifically Microsoft Office Applications
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so.
  • Previous experience working in a higher education setting
