POSITION SUMMARY: This Assistant Professor position within the department of Human Development and Family Studies in the College of Health and Human Sciences is a 9-month, full time, continuing appointment, non-tenure track faculty position. Responsibilities include 80-85% effort in teaching, 5-10% scholarship and 5-10% effort in service. This instructor will teach 4-5 undergraduate courses/semester, as well as occasional summer teaching; courses will be taught in both on-campus and online formats and applicant must be available to teach on campus as needed.

Successful applicant will have a strong work ethic, experience in both online and face-to-face instruction, ability to teach course content in early lifespan development and family studies and be able to oversee fieldwork (internship and practicum experiences) and professional development, and be dedicated to the mission of the Department. The position requires a full-time physical presence at CSU.

DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK UNIT: The Department of Human Development and Family Studies is one of eight academic programs in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Colorado State University is Colorado’s land grant institution and holds the Doctoral/Research University – Extensive classification from the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education. The department houses resident and online undergraduate programs leading to a BS in Human Development and Family Studies, a BS in Early Childhood Education, and a minor in gerontology interdisciplinary studies. The department is also home to graduate programs leading to an MS in Prevention Science or Marriage and Family Therapy, and a PhD in Applied Developmental Science.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a PhD in Human Development and Family Studies or related field, such as Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or Public Health by the start date; expertise in early Lifespan Development and Family Studies; evidence of excellent teaching ability in both online and face-to-face instruction; interest and evidence of ability to teach professional development courses and fieldwork (internship and practicum) education; experience teaching in multicultural contexts and with diverse student groups; experience using technology to teach courses; and excellent communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with supervision of fieldwork placement and professional development coursework; course development; experience with supporting undergraduate student retention and success; and can speak and write in Spanish.
