Lecturer of English

Job description

Nature of Work               

The School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a Lecturer of English position within the Department of Arts and Humanities. This appointment is expected to begin January 1, 2019. This position is an academic year (10 month) appointment.

Essential Duties

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching English Composition I and II, including developmental English. Initial responsibilities include teaching 15 credit hours of composition and developmental English in both fall and spring semesters; summer teaching opportunities are based on student enrollment. The candidate must work cooperatively with others and be willing to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online classes at the Brunswick campus and/or the Camden location as needed. While demonstrating excellence in teaching, the candidate will contribute to departmental and college committees and demonstrate a commitment to professional development and scholarship.

Minimum Qualifications and Training

M.A., M.F.A., or MAT in English from a regionally accredited institution must be completed prior to the position start date.

Preferred Qualifications and Training

• Computer literacy, including experience using technology in the classroom

• Interpersonal and organizational skills
