Applications are now being accepted for one or more Applications Development Specialist positions for Auxiliary Shared Technology Services at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Auxiliary Shared Technology Services serves as the IT department for a variety of Auxiliary units on the campus to provide better efficiency, broader support, and operational resiliency, as well as create richer employment environment for the Auxiliary IT staff. Position Functions and Major Responsibilities for Applications Development Specialist

The Applications Development Specialist plans, evaluates, designs, implements and maintains databases and software applications used for the management of University Housing operations.

  • Perform analysis, design, programming and implementation of systems and procedures to address complex business needs
  • Integrate campus enterprise systems with vendor and internally-developed systems
  • Review business procedures and make recommendations for improvement through automation
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify needs and define system requirements
  • Modify University Housing systems to accommodate changing business requirements, user needs, and technological changes.
  • Collaborate with SDS team members to develop, maintain, and monitor programming standards and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Qualifications for Applications Development Specialist

Experience:

Required: Bachelor's Degree. Experience with development in a Windows environment; SQL, web application programming (client and server-side), Javascript/HTML/CSS. Ability to work independently and as part of a programming team. Demonstrated ability in effective communication and collaboration.

Preferred: Experience with database design, T-SQL, ASP.NET, Microsoft Team Foundation Server, CMS, Tableau, SSIS. Familiarity with responsive web design and web accessibility standards. Experience with project management

Appointment Status: This is a 12-month, full-time academic professional position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience and includes an excellent benefits package.

Proposed Starting Date: As soon as possible.
