Job Description Summary:

The Laboratory of Dr. Robert Miller at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) is seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist to investigate aspects of neurological diseases including multiple sclerosis, brain tumors, and spinal cord injury. This position conducts laboratory research on an independent and collaborative basis.
Responsibilities Include:
-Researches and studies glial cell functions using rat and mouse. Performs histology, molecular biology, and microinjections.
-Designs and evaluates experiments and develops new ideas. Plans and develops research methods and techniques within the framework of the project.
-Maintains accurate records of research findings and analyzes results. Trains students on basic lab operations and functions.
-Prepares research results for publications in reports, papers, journals, books, and other media.
-Attends, contributes to, and leads internal and external meetings.
-This position performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Require’s a PhD in the field or in a related area.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

-Degree in biological or biomedical science.
-Strong record of publications including at least one first author, peer-reviewed publication in the field of neurobiology preferred but not required.
-Experience with mouse husbandry, electrophysiology, and molecular biology techniques.
-Organizational and communication skills, ability to think critically and creatively, and capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively.
