Primary Function of Organization Unit: North Carolina Cooperative Extension gives our residents easy access to the resources and expertise of NC State University and NC A&T State University. Through educational programs, publications and events, Cooperative Extension agents deliver unbiased, research-based information to North Carolina citizens. Buncombe County has a diverse population of people and is the seventh largest population of the North Carolina counties. According to the 2010 Census, the County's total population was 231,452 individuals. This represents a net increase of 10.9% since 2000.
Essential Job Duties: The Extension Administrative Assistant is the office manager for the County Extension Center. This position provides administrative support for Extension staff and programs.
Department Required Skills: - Must have the ability to work with diverse audiences - Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision - Must possess good written and oral communication skills - Must be able to switch tasks quickly - Must have good organizational skills - Must possess efficient keyboarding and computer skills
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: - Experience with budgeting, customer service and social media marketing preferred - Must be motivated and comfortable taking initiative with assigned tasks - Must be a team member dedicated to supporting a positive and creative work environment - Experience with web page management, desktop publishing, and newsletter design and preparation are preferred. - Previous Cooperative Extension experience is preferred
