Position Summary: This position provides evening oversight to events scheduled through the Office of Event Services and assists in supervising and assisting student technical staff with troubleshooting and setup at events. The Assistant AV Manager will review and respond to student employee event reports, report equipment maintenance needs to the AV Manager (AVM) for the Office of Event Services. This position will report to and work with the AV Manager to hire, train, evaluate and supervise 25 technical student staff. This position is scheduled to work Tuesday - Saturday, 3pm - 11pm with some additional various hours as needed for select events. Event Support * Ensure high level of service is provided to events held on the campus indoors and out; * Maintain familiarity with many campus venues and outdoor sites; * Assess the accurate level of staff and equipment required to support events. Personnel Supervision * Assist in hiring, training, supervising and evaluating 25 tech staff employees; * Supervise and train tech student supervisors to properly enforce disciplinary actions and to be directly involved with the actions taken and recorded ; * Lead student staff at assigned events. Union and Event Services Meetings and Goals Support * Keep the Carolina Union full time staff apprised of event outcomes, training curriculum and resources, changes in equipment statuses, and new services; * Follow up on all issues related to technical student staffing, equipment repair and inventories discussed in event meetings; * Address customer service issues cited in shift reports within a week of the event and share the corrective measures taken at weekly meetings.

Education Requirements:

Qualification and Experience: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree preferably in the Theatre Arts, and some experience that provides the employee with the functional work experiences needed to perform the work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
