Position Summary:

The Latinx Cultural Center, under the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost, seeks an experienced career administrative professional to work as a Coordinator of Programs Senior in a professional office environment.  This individual will provide administrative and program coordination support to the Director, support daily office-wide operations, and plan and facilitate student, faculty and community programs and events, as well as other projects.


  1. Provide project coordination and facilitation for the Director, which includes: student initiatives, community outreach programs, and other projects as needed. Provide administrative support to Director, which includes: scheduling appointments, travel, meeting preparation and minutes; and other duties as needed. Work with other units around campus to coordinate efforts including Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost, Access and Diversity, Student Affairs, Languages, Philosophy and Communication Studies, AA/EO, etc. Work with community-based programs and initiatives to coordinate efforts such as Logan School District, Cache County School District, Cache Refugee and Immigrant Connection, The Family Place, Latinos in Action, etc. Coordinate activities of support staff, consultants, faculty, and/or volunteers engaged in implementation and administration of program objectives. Coordinate staffing for events including hourly employees, interns and volunteers.  Assist with event and meeting planning, which includes securing venues, catering, A/V or technical needs, invitations, marketing and facilitating at the event that may require early, late or weekend work hours. May train and direct lower level staff, student employees, volunteers and/or graduate students. Work with Director and university webmaster to update and maintain websites for the Latinx Cultural Center. Assist in the research and preparation of complex documents that include PDFs, charts, graphs, and PowerPoint presentations. Assist in the tracking of program proposals. Maintain office supplies inventory and ordering, filing, office receptionist and phone support, mail distribution, and other duties as assigned.

The Latinx Cultural Center (LCC) at Utah State University serves as a conduit for service, engagement, areas. The LCC is committed to empowering all who recognize a vested interest in the Latinx community by focusing on the pillars of academic, educational, personal, and professional growth. The LCC also serves as a communal space on campus for programs and groups that work to mentor and showcase the academic and individual potential of USU students who identify as Latinx or are interested in Latinx culture. Such programs include LASER at USU, the USU Latinx Creative Society, Latinos in Action (LIA), and much more. In addition, the LCC is devoted to educating the campus and the public on issues that affect the Latinx community and is committed to the cause of diversity and representation in higher education.


Minimum Required Qualifications

  1. Six years of administrative assistant, project coordinator, event planner or related office experience; OR a certificate of completion of Business Administrative Support program plus five years of experience; OR an associate degree plus five years of experience; OR a Bachelor’s degree plus four years of experience. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), webpage maintenance, and databases. Willing to work flexible hours. Project management skills and ability to meet deadlines, as well as the ability to keep Director on task with his meeting preparations and project deadlines. Ability to work effectively in a project management and customer-service-based demanding office, and to manage multiple tasks in a timely, effective and detail oriented manner. Effective organization and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently with limited supervision. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, sensitivity and discretion. Ability to effectively interact and work collaboratively with other units and departments around campus to facilitate programs, plan events, etc. Good understanding of the English language, including spelling, grammar and letter writing; and excellent proofreading skills. Excellent interpersonal and proven customer service skills with the ability to communicate in a professional manner with the University community, senior members of administration, the community and large, and University guests. Ability to exercise a high level of creativity, decision making, problem-solving, and discretion as work is varied and may be undefined. Ability to maintain a positive attitude and high level of professionalism. Ability to train others.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Native fluency in Spanish (speaking, reading, writing) Experience with Adobe DreamWeaver, Qualtrics and Curriculog Knowledge of USU's Banner HR and Workflow, EZ Buy, OU Campus, and ServiceNow systems

Opportunity Type: Full-Time w/benefits package

Percent of Time or Hours per Week: 40 hours/week

Advertised Salary: Minimum $33,000 Commensurate with experience, plus excellent benefits
