Assistant Professor, Simulation Educator

Founded in 1879, Curry College is a private, four-year, liberal arts-based institution located on a wooded 131-acre campus in Milton, MA just seven miles from downtown Boston. Classes for adult learners are also offered at our campus in historic Plymouth.  Curry College is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), and the new England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Curry College offers 27 undergraduate majors, over 60 minors and concentrations, as well as four graduate programs.

Curry College School of Nursing offers several programs: Traditional BS in Nursing; Accelerated Second-Degree BS in Nursing; RN to BS completion; and an MSN with two tracks: education and administration. The curriculums are based on Quality and Safety Education in Nursing competencies. The Curry College Baccalaureate Nursing Program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Curry College School of Nursing is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor to lead the program’s growing simulation education efforts at the Milton and Plymouth campuses beginning Fall 2019. The Simulation Educator holds primary responsibility for the integration of simulation into the baccalaureate nursing curriculum. The Simulation Educator works closely with simulation staff to ensure program adherence to the INACSL Standards of Best Practice: Simulation.

The Simulation Educator’s responsibilities include designing policies, implementing simulation activities for a wide variety of clinical courses, debriefing, and evaluating simulation- based student-learning. Additionally, the Simulation Educator is expected to adhere to College expectations for teaching, service, and scholarship consistent with the rank of Assistant Professor. 

Candidates must have current knowledge and experience of standards and practices involving simulation pedagogy; Knowledge and ability to lead organizational change; Experience in leading projects; Current knowledge of clinical nursing care; Strong oral and written communication skills; Ability to work with diverse learners; Ability to work with new technology and software; Strong organizational skills; and the ability to move mannequins and other related equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An earned Doctorate in Nursing or a Doctorate in a related field with an MS in Nursing (ABD considered with completion date before August 2019).
  • A minimum of Two (2) years of simulation experience is required; Certification as a Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) is preferred.
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
  • An unrestricted Massachusetts RN license or eligibility for Massachusetts RN licensure.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Ability to move mannequins and other equipment.
