Director of Development

Job description

Applications are being accepted for a full-time Director of Development. This position provides management and oversight for the college's major gift program. Responsibilities include maintaining donor portfolio and conducting major gift fundraising in geographic regions as assigned, securing gifts, pledges, and planned gift commitments to forward the college's priorities.

Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of relevant fundraising experience, preferably in a higher education setting. Understanding of liberal arts education.

Preferred Skills

Sound fundraising judgment and strong organizational, communication, writing, and interpersonal skills. Must maintain knowledge of liberal arts education and fundraising and Cornell's programs and priorities. Ability to be an articulate spokesperson on behalf of Cornell, interact professionally in a variety of situations (in person and on the telephone), and inspire respect and confidence of prospects.  Ability to maintain confidentiality. Demonstrated commitment to teamwork. Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable to drive.
