Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree required. Degree in continuing or adult education, public health, healthcare administration, or related field is preferred. Additional training or experience in quality improvement within a health care setting strongly desired.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Minimum of 3 years experience preferred working in a health and/or health education profession, preferably collaborating with physicians and healthcare workers creating educational interventions and events.
Demonstrable project management and public speaking/presentation skills are essential to this position. Knowledge of Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and American Medical Association (AMA) is preferred. Experience with Quality Improvement initiatives is essential and experience with Maintenance of Certification (MOC) is highly desirable.
Effective oral and written communication skills, independent problem solving and analytical skills, attention to detail and organization, and an outgoing and energetic service-oriented approach required.
License or certificate:
The Continuing Professional Development Manager will serve as a departmental resource and expert for Quality Improvement, Continuing Professional Development, and Maintenance of Certification. The individual must have the ability to assume authority and accept responsibility for planning and programming educational activities sponsored by or created in collaboration with the Department of Pediatrics. This position will report to the Education Programs Manager. However, day to day direction will be provided by the Director of Continuing Professional Development.

General qualifications deemed necessary include:
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate work with faculty, staff, learners, external faculty, hotel meeting planners, and a wide variety of internal and external vendors, collaborators and stakeholders.
-Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
-Exceptional attention to detail to facilitate responsibilities for keeping track of critical educational files, credit letters, contracts, planning documents, and evaluations for educational activities.
-Knowledge of budgets and contracts to facilitate responsibility for planning educational interventions and activities such as live, face-to-face conferences.
Must be willing and able to work hours outside the "normal workday" hours, because many of the conferences are planned to occur outside traditional work week hours, including early morning, late evening and weekends.
Ability to travel, mostly around the Madison area. Frequently, meetings occur at other medical facility locations, across the UW campus, and at locations around the Madison area.
