Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position in Tourism Management

Position: The Department of Recreation, Sport and Tourism at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for an Assistant Professor, nine-month, tenure-track position in the area of Tourism Management. We are seeking candidates with a strong, well-defined research agenda with the ability to teach core subjects in tourism management. This position builds on the department's interdisciplinary strengths to integrate recreation, sport and tourism and offers opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary scholarship within the department as well as other units within the College of Applied Health Sciences and across campus. The start date for this position will be August 16, 2019.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include conducting research in chosen area of expertise; building collaborative research partnerships with colleagues within the department, college and various disciplines across campus; advising and directing student research including M.S. theses and Ph.D. dissertations; instructing undergraduate and graduate courses; contributing to the Department's curriculum; seeking external funding for research efforts; serving on Department, College, and University committees; and engaging in professional and public service activities.

Required Qualifications: To qualify for the position, applicants must demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:
Earned doctorate in Tourism or related field at the time of appointment. ABD will be considered but the hire will be contingent upon completing the degree prior to the position's start date.
Evidence of publishing in leading peer-reviewed journals in the tourism field.
Evidence of or potential to attract external funding.
Ability to contribute to RST undergraduate and graduate curricula in one or more of the following areas: management, technology, consumer behavior, and marketing.
Ability to contribute to the university and the Recreation, Sport and Tourism field through academic and public service/engagement.

Preferred qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants who:
Make linkages among tourism, recreation, and sport
Have practical experience within the tourism industry

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
