Job description

Duties: * Performing routine dry-distillations for isolating astatine-211
* Performing process development for dry-distillations of astatine-211
* Characterizing radionuclidic purity of astatine-211 by gamma spectroscopy using a high purity germanium detector
* Characterize radionuclidic purity of astatine-211 by alpha spectroscopy using an alpha spectrometer
* Operate JSW cyclotron for astatine-211 production, assist in JSW cyclotron maintenance, perform target retrieval of astatine-211 solid target
* Perform routine radiochemistry using astatine-211, operate high performance liquid chromatography instrument, gamma counter, dose calibrator, Geiger muller detectors
* Documentation and maintenance of records
* Radioactive waste management

Qualifications: A Bachelor of Science Degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering and 1 to 3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
* Must have research experience in the molecular biology, chemistry, or the pharmaceutical industry
* Must be able to communicate effectively
* Must be able to follow verbal directions and work independently
* Must be able to follow written protocols with high success rates and reproducibility
* Must be able to operate software for computers and/or instruments
* Preferred skills include software coding to develop algorithms for analyzing data
* Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or demonstrate acceptable physical strength as required
* Must be able to develop projects over time
