Responsibilities

The Senior Director is responsible for developing and implementing human resources services and strategies in support of the overall mission and strategic direction of Florida State University with an emphasis on Total Rewards (Compensation, Benefits, Recognition, Talent Development).

The Senior Director makes recommendations to senior management in the areas of recruiting and talent management, compensation, employee engagement, training and organizational development, Human Resources Information Systems, and Benefits. This role also supervises multiple HR functional areas and acts in the absence of the Chief Human Resources Officer.

Serves as a strategic partner in the development of University-wide strategies and assesses how those strategies will impact people; translates broad strategies into HR strategic and operational plans; develops approaches to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the human resources organization.

Develops communications, operational plans, and tactics aimed at increasing engagement to align the University's available talent with its mission and strategic direction.

Develops and implements comprehensive recruiting, retention, training, and development, recognition and rewards, and succession plans to meet the University's strategic goals.

Identifies areas of risk and develops mitigation strategies; ensures compliance with all federal and state employment laws. Consults with senior leadership and other managers to resolve complex human resources and organizational issues.

Qualifications

Master's degree and six years of experience, or Bachelor's degree and eight years of directly related experience. (Note: Higher education may substitute for experience at an equivalent rate)
Minimum of three years' experience in a supervisory role, to include employee performance evaluation and team development.

Experience in providing strong leadership and direction in strategic and operational functions.
Experience in the application of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
Experience in developing and implementing policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
Experience in providing oversight of the integration of compensation/classification processes with employment processes.
Experience with evaluating and providing recommendations for re-organizations, modifications to position management and compensation systems to ensure they are meeting the needs and objectives of the organization.
Experience with benefits administration, vendor management, program evaluation and oversight of service agreements.
Demonstrated ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with a broad range of constituents.

Preferred

Preference given to applicants with higher education experience.

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
