Advancement Services Specialist

Job description

The Advancement Services Specialist in the University Advancement and Development Office will have responsibilities in three areas of Advancement Services, including but not limited to prospect research and prospect management, data base management and integrity, and gift processing functions.

  1. Research and prepare comprehensive profiles of high value donors in response to requests from major gift officers, senior development officers and the President’s office
  2. Proactively identify research, analyze and match the charitable and economic interests of prospective donors with opportunities at KSU
  3. Work directly with major gift officers to manage their portfolios by monitoring and assisting with the information needs as a prospective donor moves through the donor development life cycle. Keeping all constituent information accurate and current in the CRM database
  4. Process charitable gifts made by various giving vehicles (i.e. cash, credit card, securities, gift in kind, payroll deduction, etc.) through the receipting system adhering to IRS Rules for charitable gift processing as well as the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Reporting Standards

  • Proficient with complex/advanced online information searches
  • Able to manage multiple tasks or projects at one time
  • Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, technology, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong Attention to detail and strong organizational and follow up skills
  • Strong customer service skills

  • General fundraising knowledge with regard to development practices, procedures, strategy, terminology, and giving vehicles
  • Knowledge of relational databases a plus
