Clinical Assistant Professor in Mathematics - Non Tenure-Track

Job Description: Arrupe College, a new two-year undergraduate college of Loyola University Chicago, invites applications for a three-year renewable appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Mathematics, beginning July 1, 2019. Located at the Water Tower Campus of Loyola University Chicago, Arrupe College seeks to expand access to a rigorous liberal arts education by offering small class sizes and individualized advising. Clinical track faculty have teaching, advising, and service commitments; they are eligible for promotion and for professional development funds. In addition to an attractive compensation package, this position comes with the opportunity to help build a college that is at the forefront of improving access to liberal education. As a new institution, Arrupe College offers faculty an opportunity to experiment and develop initiatives that advance our educational mission. Over the course of twelve months the selected individual will teach eight sections of freshman and sophomore level courses in Mathematics, including college algebra, pre-calculus, applied calculus, and a core course in statistics. The individual selected for this position will demonstrate commitment to serving a diverse student body, including underserved, minority, and first-generation college students. The successful candidate will exhibit experience with active-learning teaching methods and enthusiasm for and commitment to undergraduate teaching and advising as well as a willingness to engage students beyond formal classroom experiences. Candidates with experience teaching in community colleges are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications: A doctorate or master's degree in the discipline is required, with a record of teaching excellence including documented evidence of teaching and working with diverse student populations. The successful candidate must provide evidence of a commitment to excellence and innovation in teaching at the introductory levels and dedication to program development. The successful candidate will provide documented evidence of co-curricular mentorship experiences with students of this age group.
